Stalking Draws in the National Hunting Reserves of Aragon

The hunting draws in Aragon are the official way to obtain permits in the autonomous community’s Reserves and Social Hunting Grounds. Each season, thousands of hunters participate with the aim of securing stalking permits in Aragon for highly sought-after species such as Spanish ibex, chamois, roe deer, or red deer.

Aragon has established itself as one of Spain’s most important destinations for mountain hunting, especially for trophy stalking in sustainably managed public lands.

Permits are awarded through a public draw, which guarantees transparency and equitable access. For many hunters, it is the only way to access:

• Pyrenean Chamois Stalking in the Pyrenees
• Red Deer and Roe Deer Stalking in Public Reserves
• Population Control Permits and Regulated Driven Hunts

Hunting Reserves in Aragon

Aragon boasts several public hunting reserves managed by the regional administration, primarily distributed between the provinces of Huesca and Teruel. In the province of Huesca, there are five prominent reserves: Los Valles, considered one of the most relevant Pyrenean reserves; Viñamala, located in high mountains and managed specifically for species like chamois; Los Circos, another significant hunting area in the Huesca Pyrenees; Benasque, situated in the region of the same name; and La Garcipollera, one of the smallest reserves in terms of area but also included within the public wildlife management.

In the province of Teruel, three main reserves stand out. The best known is Montes Universales, a benchmark for mountain stalking in Aragon. There is also the Beceite reserve, also known as Ports de Tortosa-Beceite, recognized for the quality of its Spanish ibex stalking. Finally, the Masías de Ejulve-Maestrazgo reserve completes the province’s public hunting offerings, providing additional hunting opportunities in regulated and sustainably managed areas.

These reserves form the core of public hunting in Aragon and are the main setting for the official permit draws convened each season for stalking, driven hunts, and other regulated hunting modalities.
